چکیده

Aim: Fine-needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) in the preoperative diagnosis of salivary gland (SG) masses is a very fast, inexpensive, and reliable diagnostic method. In our study, correlation cytological-histopathological cases diagnosed with fine needle clinic was investigated, possible causes entrapment discordant were discussed. Material Methods: Salivary FNAC histopathological between 2008 2019 retrospectively analyzed. The age, gender, localization lesion, cytology, postoperative patients recorded. Cytology results analyzed 5 categories: unsatisfactory, uncategorized, benign, suspected malignancy, malignant. Histopathology recorded 2 groups benign-nonneoplastic Statistically significant difference level accepted as p<0.05. The validity result according to biopsy evaluated by sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative value. Results: 316 detected. 156 (49.4%) had diagnosis. When calculating diagnosis, that found be inadequate uncategorized not taken into consideration. malignancy group within malignant category. Therefore, agreement calculated 124 cases. Of these cases, 116 (93.6%) cytology-histopathology compatible, 8 (6.4%) not. series, overall sensitivity specificity 83.3% 97.7%, respectively. value 93.7% 93.4%. accuracy rate 93.5%. Conclusion: high values determined accordance literature. It should kept mind there may rarely differences cytological diagnoses, possibly due experience, method, lesion-related limitations pitfalls.
